Though relatively new to the world of sneaker culture, Feng Chen Wang evidently had no trouble adjusting, the London-based, China-born designer making a name for herself with an inimitable roster of Converse collaborations. Essentially touring through many of the brand’s classics, Wang is now set to reinterpret the ever-beloved Jack Purcell and its signature double cap toe “smile.”
Much like the Chuck 70, ERX, and Pro Leather before it, the staple offering arrives filtered through its creator’s whimsical and free-form design language. Heavily personal in its output, the construction visually pays homage to Wang’s Mandarin name as the stacked layers take the shape of the various characters. And among these aggressively applied parts lies extremely subtle storytelling — the distinct though combined leather and suede textures being likened to the identity of its author, a mixed heritage shaped by Shanghai as well as London. Stamped with her own namesake just along the heel and provided a relatively untouched tooling, the two color options — one black and the other white — add yet another powerful entry into a constantly expanding partnership.
Grab a detailed look at the forthcoming pairs right here, and if you’re looking to pick up either the Jack Purcells or the accompanying apparel, expect a release to arrive August 6th.
In other news, a tie-dye Air Max 97 Golf just went live on Nike.
