Nike Reworks Its Classics With The Waffle Racer 2X

Since last year, the Nike Waffle Racer has received love from not only the brand’s inline team but also collaborators like Virgil Abloh and Chitose Abe. And while both have proffered their own takes distinct from the original, the Swoosh themselves are only now set to debut their unique interpretation.

Dubbed the Waffle Racer 20, the silhouette effectively takes cues from its more modern peers, adopting a few noteworthy tweaks that help it stand apart from the original. Synthetic ripstop adds grid textures along the entire base, while the overlays atop make use of a mostly ordinary suede. Toe caps and heel wraps follow the footsteps of its inspiration, though the eye stay opts for a far different approach as it extends passed the ankle in a fashion almost N.354-like in design. Elsewhere, bright yellow taping brings contrast across the vamp, swooshes outline thick in dark brown, and the tooling minimizes its signatures sole with fewer raised molds.

Grab a detailed look at these here and expect a release at Nike.com to happen sometime soon.

In other news, the Air Jordan 3 Court Purple was revealed in detail today.
