Once the poster boy of Nike proper, React cushioning lead the way for sneaker culture during 2018, many pining over OG pairs of the React Element 87 as well as its subsequent collaborations with Japanese label UNDERCOVER. And though many have become relatively desensitized to the cushioning’s new offerings these past few years, things may change with the debut of ISPA’s interpretation: the OverReact.
In true ISPA fashion, the silhouette colors outside the lines of typical inline principle, making for a silhouette that seems almost unrecognizable as a Swoosh product. Its construction, while composed of the usual parts, bridges high fashion into performance with woven fabrications and a sleek though still aggressive overall aesthetic. Flyknit, whose texture is visually utilized by way of boldly colored threads, supports the profile with a stack of layers while ensuring an overall snug fit thanks to a sock liner reminiscent build. To further fasten, an ordinary lace unit is completely removed in favor of something outwardly utilitarian; straps wrap from the medial upwards to the tongue with an added fixture sliding either which way for preferred tightness. What’s more, the sole unit seems to be entirely brand new as its shape and aggressive sculpting would be far too out there within the overarching brand’s mainline offerings.
Grab a detailed look at both upcoming colorways here — one a white with colored accents and the other a black pairing of neon volts and bold reds — and expect to see them at Nike.com upon their likely July launch.
In other news, the Daybreak SP Eggplant brings the silhouette to women.
