Jovani Hernandez New Balance has recently announced its commitment to LGBTQ+ issues ahead of Pride Month 2020. In addition to its continued support of GLSEN, an organization that champions safe spaces for elementary through high school students, the North American company is launching a New Balance 327, FuelCell Echo, slide sandal, and set of t-shirts to celebrate Pride Month.
Each piece of footwear and apparel in New Balance’s collection boasts an array of colors ranging from orange and purple to green and blue. Slides and t-shirts, however, primarily resort to showcasing their vibrant palettes via “NEW BALANCE” and “NB” text. By comparison, the performance-focused FuelCell Echo is almost entirely clad in blue and dons rainbow arrangements throughout its upper and sole unit. The still novel 327 opts for pristine white bases that set the stage for colorful pig suede overlays across the forefoot, throat, and heel. A heart-shaped “NB” logo and accompanying rainbow accent animate the tongue, just as they do on the FuelCell. Colorful “love since 1906” text is stamped on the insoles, further nodding to New Balance’s support of Pride celebrations around the world. Unlike its footwear co-stars in this collection, the 327 sits atop a brown, non-rainbow-laden outsole.
