This adidas NMD R1 Is Inspired By The Classic Originals Shoebox

Recent proposals from adidas demonstrate that the German sportswear behemoth is constantly on the pursuit of innovation (see: Ultra Boost 4D Parley). Yet, the brand has never lost focus of its most iconic products, going as far as referencing them across its modern-day options. The NMD R1 is the latest silhouette to receive adidas’ self-referential treatment as it’s recently emerged in a colorway strikingly reminiscent of the brand’s Originals shoebox.

Uppers on this pair keep the original NMD’s textile construction. Clad in “Royal Blue,” the sock-like model dons “Cloud White” profile 3-Stripes, branding on the tongue and accents on the heel, with the most former components – despite their lack of serration – resembling the boxes in which the Superstar comes. Underfoot, the duo-color scheme continues on the lateral forefoot plug and Boost midsole’s thread.

Enjoy official images of this NMD_R1 here below and secure your pair on adidas.com on June 1st for $140 USD.
