Among the recent COVID-19 delays and suspensions, the Tokyo Olympics’ is undoubtedly one of the most significant — many of the awaiting fans in low spirits after having to cancel their flights and likely expensive accommodations. But even though the sporting event is taking a hit, it doesn’t mean the celebrating brands would have to as well. adidas, like both Nike and Reebok, is slowly starting to let loose their own commemorative releases, including this Japan-inspired take of the ZX 8000. Aiming for gold as if a part of the competition, the pair adorns with the metallic subtly at the toe, heel, and outsole. The constructions surrounding, however, prefer to lean towards neutrals as mesh, leathers, and various synthetics don a white shade, finishing what is direct nod to the Asian country’s flags via the red accents at both the Three Stripes branding and tongue tab. Finished with the iconic torch, the athletic offering is set to arrive soon through adidas.com.
