Despite most (if not all) outdoor sports still being suspended by the COVID-19 pandemic, fans of organized team-play were kept entertained this week.
ESPN’s “The Last Dance” series premiered on Sunday to much praise. Rob Grownkowski came out of retirement on Tuesday to join Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And Joe Burrow, who received a custom pair of the Nike Air Max 90 from The Swoosh, was drafted No. 1 to the Cincinnati Bengals in the first all-virtual NFL Draft on Thursday. In-between these and other events, NIKE, Inc. delivered official and unofficial looks at upcoming footwear ripe for those who take their passion for sports beyond the living room and fantasy league interface.
Another in-game exclusive PG 4 was announced in partnership with NBA 2K20. Both trims of the LeBron 17 also emerged in new colorways, with the LeBron 17 Low nodding to the man-behind-it with Olympics-theme accents. Giannis Antetokounmpo also unofficially confirmed a newly-surfaced “Black/White” pair of his rumored Zoom Freak 2. While not associated with new product, Kobe Bryant’s Hall Of Fame announcement was accompanied by a 92-lot collection of autographed game-worn jerseys, sneakers and more assembled for auction by Goldin.
Away from the hoops-ready proposals, Beaverton delivered looks at new pairs of the Air Jordan 1. Leaked images and news of the brand’s upcoming collaborations with Cactus Plant Flea Market and UNDEFEATED on the Dunk Low and Air Max 97, respectively, aso made their rounds on the Internet. Lastly, Stussy cobbled together a sneaker arguably no one knew he or she wanted until this week: A Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 donning the Air Kukini’s signature overlays.
