Space exploration through sneakers is nothing new to NIKE, Inc. Some voyages, however, have only resulted in minute design nods (e.g. MX-720-818), while others have inspired entire launches (e.g. Air Foamposite One Galaxy). The latter now arrives to the Air Max 90 amid its 30th Anniversary.
Reminiscent of the aforementioned Foamposite, which effectively changed the way limited sneakers are released back in 2012, this Air Max model dons a multi-color pattern across the toe box, tongue and collar. Black mudguards, midfoot panels and laces allow their surrounding galaxy print to shine. Similarly, profile Swooshes and tongue patches boast a metallic silver finish akin to astronaut uniforms. Down below, Air unit cassettes proffer a night sky-like arrangement given their dark backdrop and accompanying white speckling. Airbags, just like TPU eyestays up top and tread underfoot, however, adds teal and red – two hues also appearing on an upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low – into the extraterrestrial mix. Elsewhere, hangtags featuring text that may reference supernova SN 2020bio (discovered on January 29th) round out the ensemble.
No release date is yet known for the Air Max 90 “Galaxy,” but pairs are likely to arrive to Nike.com soon. In the meantime, enjoy a closer look at the shoes here below.
