ellesse Explores Their Archives To Bring Back The Tanker OG

From skiwear to tennis gear, ellesse has always been a huge proponent of the sportswear scene, but in recent years, the brand has taken a surprise turn to lifestyle, proffering a fashionable aesthetic marked by not only apparel but also a complementing range of sneakers. The latest from the latter, which borrows inspiration from an extensive archive, uncovers a likely forgotten 1982 collaboration between their founder, Leonard Servadio, and Australian designer Marc Sadler: a partnership that produced the sleek Tanker OG, one of the most alluringly branded sneakers in the Italian label’s repertoire. Equipped for the court with aggressive sole units and smooth leather constructions, the model’s highlights are its bright red logos which sprawl in either a spell-out form or their signature half ball motif. Laterals, Medials, and even the tread affix with the former, filling the blank white space with vibrant hits of “ellesse” in elegant typography. Moreover, tongue tabs do much of the same with horizontal striping, the heel turns their insignia into luxurious emblems, and the insole finishes with yet another nod to their namesake, rounding off a classic with many of its recognizable details.

Grab a close-up look at the Tanker OG right here and find its release at select stockists and ellesse.com today, February 28th, for a price of $95 USD.
