Gradually taking steps back into the performance basketball space, Converse joined Nike and Jordan Brand’s recent All-Star Weekend 2020 Preview to unveil several releases scheduled ahead of next month’s Chicago-held event. While its fairly new All Star BB Pro is amongst the collection, heritage-silhouettes like the Pro Leather OG are undoubtedly the range’s focus given their various iterations in both colorway and trim. Of the former, original ’70s palettes animate chevron, tongue, and heel branding on the Pro Leather’s low and high cuts in The One-Star Brand’s stitch-for-stitch recreation of the model’s inaugural pairs.
Converse’s latest foray into basketball dons simple black or white outfits, save for one of the All Star BB Pro Lows which is given a patriotic execution inspired by the jerseys worn in the 1988 All-Star Game – coincidentally held in the Windy City. Sharing in the red, white, and blue scheme, a Chuck 70 fittingly rounds out the commemorative collection given its shared DNA with what’s widely-considered the first basketball shoe ever in the Chuck Taylor All Star.
Most of Converse’ “All-Star” collection will release at Converse.com as we inch closer to February 14th, while pairs like the tri-color All Star BB Pro Low will drop exclusively at the NBA Weekend.
