Since first tapping Virgil Abloh to reimagine 10 of its icons back in 2017, Nike has fully embraced “deconstructed design” outfitting everything from the Air Max 1 to the React Element 55 with a bare-bones aesthetic. Entirely new models, like the Air Force 1 Type, have come about from this re-imaginative approach to footwear design and this upcoming Air Max 200 taps into this “no-frills” process. Constructed with a monochrome translucent upper, this pair boasts a duo of “Bright Crimson” and “Green Strike” accents across lace guards, branding, and pull tabs, while the former dominates most visible stitching throughout the synthetic panels. But the most interesting feature on this AM 200 is the schematic-style images peeking through the glassy upper consisting of Swoosh sketches in various sizes, written notes, and angle markings. Tying the blueprint theme together, Swooshes at the toe box and heel tab, as well as near the midfoot, are simply left as outlines waiting to be connected.
