With pairs of its NBA 2K20 edition going for up to $850 on eBay, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Chaos” is officially making its North American and European return later this week in its original colorway. Inspired by the Mamba’s obsession with Heath Ledger’s Joker, the menacing colorway could not have retroed (or protroed) at a better time given that the purple-donning clown, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, broke the box office record for any R-rated movie ever this year ($1.061 billion USD). The former Lakers-guard first wore this Joker-inspired pair on Christmas Day 2009 and its return stays faithful to its original volt and purple color palette, while receiving subtle, but pivotal performance upgrades.
