When it comes to Nike SB, there is certainly a level of excitement one can receive when admiring the shoes on their own, but an even greater appreciation is held amongst sneaker purists when they recognize the boxes that house them. It was in the early 2000s that Michael Hernandez and Sandy Bodecker, employees of the Nike SB division at the time, saw another vision for the Swoosh’s kick-push category and wanted to find a way to make it unique through special colored packagings. After a lengthy process of requesting the design changes to occur, the idea was finally approved and executed and has since evolved throughout the years from the “Silver Box Era” that started it all to arguably the most popular time period in SB’s history with the “Pink Box Era”, and so on. And as the turn of the new decade is just upon the horizon, it look as though the designs are set to transition as well with the ringing of 2020 with brand new purple boxes coupled white Nike branding accents.
