Since Virgil Abloh and Nike introduced “The Ten” collection back in 2017, the sneaker landscape was impacted like no other. We entered into the age of deconstructed footwear which has carried over into not only other Swoosh models that aren’t associated with the Off-White imprint, but even other sportswear competitors such as Vans and adidas. And the former continues to generate variations such as this upcoming Nike Vapormax Plus, who’s various accents draw influence from that of Abloh’s signature tendencies. Exposed stitching near the ankle collars, text accents on the lateral panels, and gridded heel regions speak to similar Beaverton branding and material textures utilized on the designer’s more recently released track-inspired collaborations such as the Waffle Racer and Vapor Streets. In addition, flight thematics are also alluded to via “Release” hits on the heel tabs, and parachute icons laid atop the insoles that we recently saw arrive on the Air Max 270 React. Grab a detailed look here ahead, and be on the lookout for them to drop on Nike.com and select retailers in the coming weeks.
