With the growing population of the class-based fitness community, Nike delivers a practical and thoughtful family of sneakers designed specifically for the burpees, kettle bell swings, mountain climbers, and spinners. The newly unveiled SuperRep family is tailored for those dynamic movements, offering targeted support at the forefoot by way of two Air Zoom pods covered by a durable crash pad that is much firmer than a classic rubber. Many of the actions performend in these high-intensity exercises require being on ones toes more than normal, and the significant flex groove called the “burpee break” provides natural bend and stability for all types of exercises. Above the sole is the full-length plate that scoops upwards at the toe, promoting a sensation of propulsion.
Side to side movements are also very common during these station-based circuit workouts. The arcs (called “containment shields”) ensure lateral stability during these sweeping movements; on a visual standpoint, we’re reminded of the Air Max 90 and how the design draws eyeballs to the visible cushion unit. The upper is built with a super-breathable mesh and covered with a ribbed overlay that contains and protects without compromising range of movement.
Alongside the Air Zoom SuperRep is the SuperRep Go, made for those quick and easy at-home workouts, and the SuperRep cycle, a much-needed response to the lack of ventilation and cooling factor in current models. The spikes on the spin shoe are also made with rubber to prevent slips and falls in the spin studio (instructors told Nike that these are a leading cause of injury).
The Air Zoom SuperRep, priced at just $120, will launch on 12/17 in Europe for Nike members; a wider release date is confirmed for January 2nd. The SuperRep Go will launch in April 2020, while the spin shoe will be available in Summer.
