Soulland Focuses On Japanese Skate Culture With Their Nike SB Blazer Mid “FRI.day 03”

Often traveling far and wide for their inspirations, Soulland‘s few but mighty Nike SB collaborations have put them on the radar of SB label fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. Their Dunk High as well as its accompanying low threw both silhouettes on their head and the upcoming Blazer Mid — now given a moniker of “FRI.day 03” — is set to do the same as it outfits almost entirely in a snakeskin tooling. Whereas their first pairs set focus on Los Angeles here in the states, the newcomer heads over to the East to traverse Japan’s influential skate culture.

Marking the third collaboration of the sort, the model takes on a distinct aesthetic far removed from the original set piece’s minimal modifications. Swooshes themselves, however, are similarly redone in a fashion that has become their signature; rather than standard overlays, the profile logos are swapped for a miniature emblem while the heel check bears a chenille texture from edge to edge. Focal materials themselves are imitation snake in deep earth tones throughout while laces, sole units, and the heel tab are done much more neutral with the latter opting out of the luxe outfit for a standard tumbled leather. Branded accents by way of an asymmetrically adorned “FRI” and “day” emboss atop, only one of the more subtle accents next to likely insole graphic.
