The Nike Air Max 98 “Next Year” Features Cork Overlays

Although we still have three months left in to go in the year, Nike is looking to get a head start on honoring the turn of the decade with this forthcoming iteration of the Air Max 98. Transforming one of its classic sportswear models into a symbol of New Year’s celebration, the Swoosh outfits these Maxes with a black nubuck base, but allows its heavily accented detailing to steal the show. Cork overlays, potentially resembling the champagne bottles popped just before the clock strikes midnight, are embedded throughout its lateral, medial and tongue overlays, followed by striking hits of metallic gold and red stitching webbed across its upper. But the party doesn’t stop there, as tiny technicolor firework sparks arrive on the patent leather overlays, followed by the insole texts nodding to NYE’s resolutions to round off this celebratory motif. Grab a closer look at the pair here below, and look for these to drop on Nike.com and at select retailers in the coming weeks.
