ASICS’ GEL-Kayano 5 OG may just be the collaborative silhouette of the year, with almost every label itching to take a crack at its retro design. First seeing vibrant, aggressive takes by Vivienne Westwood and then a heavily subdued makeover by German label GmbH, the model is now shining through the scientific lens of Chemist Creations, a branch of LA’s recently burgeoning brand C2H4. With its umbrella readying up a Nike collaboration for the near future, the diffusion has spent a likely lengthy amount of time reworking the Japanese footwear company’s flagship; uppers, though tonal with a mostly cream disposition, is amped in intrigue thanks to its underlying graphic layer. Covered in various pieces of text — which seem to be ripped from a chemistry book or novel of sorts — the pair adds even more bits of typography by way of Chinese lettering at the heel tabs and medial rear.
