Offering the biggest Air Max unit to grace any pair of Nike shoes upon its debut in 1995, Nike’s Air Max Uptempo is an important piece of Swoosh Brand hoops history, and now it’s set to release in an Orlando Magic-esque colorway complete with photo blue accents. If these Uptempos are in fact Magic-inspired, it’s certainly a cheeky homage of sorts: the Penny Hardaway and Shaquille O’Neal-led Magic vanquished the Chicago Bulls in the 1995 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, and this very silhouette is frequently associated with Bulls star Scottie Pippen. Story aside, the shoes present a smooth and sporty look thanks to a white leather base with a stark black mudugard and overlays. The aforementioned pops of blue then appear on the midfoot/midsole Swooshes as well as the tongue/heel’s pull tabs. Down below, a clear full-foot Air Max cushioning unit rounds everything off. These classic basketball kicks will release on Nike.com in the coming weeks for $160 USD, so enjoy a full set of official images below while you wait.
