Ross Dwyer Since it first kicked off in 2014, Pharrell and adidas’s collaborative partnership has been all about bold color schemes and vibrant styling, but now the two parties are taking a walk on the greyscale side of things with a new four-pack of tonal SOLAR HU Glides. The “Greyscale” pack goes from dark to light with its quartet of special makeups, starting with a stark “Core Black” before fading into a sleek “Grey Three,” turning the dial further with a “Off White,” and finalizing the yin-to-yang set with an airy “Footwear White.” Each pair’s mesh/Primeknit upper and Ultra Boost-style midsole is completely tonal, but the “Off White” pair deviates from the rest of the pack’s stylings ever so slightly, as it’s unable to resist the urge to add color with a small rainbow triangle on the collar branding. Tonal Hu embroidery on the toebox and a durable Continental rubber outsole then complete the look. A video starring US Olympian Tori Bowie that’s centered around her “inner light” also accompanies this potent package, extolling the collaboration’s driving forces of love, hope, inclusivity, and equality.
