This Nike Air Max 1 Is Inspired By Tinker Hatfield’s Original Sketch

Prototyping may just be the latest mainstay motif out of Nike’s 2019 repertoire, finding balance between the deconstructed edge flaunted by Virgil Abloh with his “The Ten” series and the rich heritage so coveted by the droves of Beaverton natives themselves. Tapping legend Tinker Hatfield once again — with the Trunner and N7 collection sitting closely behind — the Air Max 1 arrives in the likeness of the ex-architect’s original sketch. Dubbed as such, the pair evokes DIY to its core, brought from paper to real life with each choice of material and accent arriving pleasingly rough around its edges. The mudguards, which bear that classic University Red, are only barely drawn in, penciled as if to only get the gist; swooshes follow suit in that execution alongside the tongue tab, whose face bears the Hatfield’s quick caricature of the standard logo hit. Signed along the rear and overt in the lines across the outsole, the pair is truly a love letter to the moment that started it all. Grab a detailed look at the pair right below and be sure to stay tuned for details on their official Nike.com release.
