Summer 2019 is apparently the season of shock drops and surprise releases, and the latest pair to join in is Virgil Abloh‘s highly-anticipated Off-White Nike Air Force 1 “MCA,” which appeared without warning on the Off-White webstore last night. Abloh’s latest co-conceptualized design with the Swoosh Brand, the AF1s were created in honor of his “career retrospective” at MCA Chicago, which opened to the public this week. Although the shoes are rumored for a full release sometime this June, they’ve only been made available through an Empty Gallery raffle and this unexpected arrival, pushing their already substantial desirability to even greater heights. From a design standpoint, the shoes boast a soft blue upper and midsole, adorned with silver Swooshes similar to the MoMA edition that released in 2017. Helvetica text appears on the medial quarter/the lateral midsole, the collar and tongue feature an exposed foam construction, and pops of red are provided by a small tag on the Swoosh/OW’s signature zip tie. Although they’ve long since sold out, you can take another look right here, and be sure to stay tuned to our Sneaker Release Dates page for more info and updates on their potential “official” release as they’re available.
