As a direct descendant of the world’s most dashing “dad shoe,” the Nike M2K Tekno has never been shy about nodding to where it draws its inspiration from: the Air Monarch. Now it’s turning the homage up a notch however, as it’s set to release in a white, black, and red colorway that’s been a staple of the Monarch line since its inception. Although the Tekno’s overall shape is nearly identical to the mighty Monarch, it presents a slightly different style by using a more liberal dose of cut-out white leather overlays on its black synthetic base. The visible black underlays feature white contrast stitching to add to the yin/yang look, and a black mudguard/black heel clip bookend the midfoot’s medley of panels. Bright pops of varsity red arrive on the tongue, middle eyelet, around the border of the midfoot Swoosh, on the small secondary Swoosh, and the heel tab for just enough eye-catching flair. The look is then completed by a white midsole and black outsole. If you’re a long-time Monarch lover, have a healthy sense of irony, or just love a good pair of chunky kicks, these new Nike shoes will release on Nike.com later this summer for an even $100 USD.
