Nike’s recent deep dive into their library of cult-favorite archival silhouettes from the ’90s is continuing on this year, and one of the most recent models that’s resurfaced is 1996’s Zoom Alpha. The first-ever Nike Running shoe to use separate anatomically placed Zoom Air pods, the Zoom Alpha was known for its responsive-yet-springy ride. With the recent surge in popularity enjoyed by retro runners, the Alpha’s still-speedy style is perfectly on-trend too, featuring a mesh upper with wavy leather overlays and just enough retro branding. It’s now surfaced in a combo of “Lucid Green” and “Habanero Red” that gives off a Gucci-esque look, while accenting the colorful base with a plentiful helping of black and white leather on the panels. The Alpha’s midsole — which you might recognize from the popular Zoom Spiridon, a shoe that co-opted some of the Alpha’s design points when it first released in 1997 — also arrives in white/black to complete the look. Check out official images of this Nike Running classic below, and expect a drop on Nike.com and at select NSW stockists April 19th.
