As an always-outspoken company, Nike — and by extension, Jordan Brand — is not afraid to let their views be known through their products and marketing, from colorful “Pride” releases to last year’s legendary campaign with Colin Kaepernick. Another one of their special projects they’ve put energy behind in the last few years is “Equality” collection, a special capsule of black and white silhouettes with bold branding. Last year, Carmelo Anthony was Jordan Brand’s go-to athlete for the “Equality” Air Jordan 1, and he’s reprising his role this year on an Air Jordan 1 Mid. Calling upon the collection’s signature black and white palette, the shoe uses light-colored underlays and dark overlays for a striking contrast. Special detailing then arrives via a printed pattern on the Swoosh, a large “EQUALITY” hit on the heel, and Melo’s signature Jordan logo on the tongue. Expect these new “Equality” kicks to release on Nike.com February 2nd, check out a gallery of official images below, and let us know if you think Melo will be on a new team before the NBA All-Star break in the comments as well.
