This Nike Air Max 98 Is Inspired By Its Birth Year

Back in 1998 Nike released the boisterously-designed Air Max 98 sneaker for the very first time, borrowing the full-length Air unit from the significantly more appreciated Air Max 97 the year prior. This year – in honor of its 20th anniversary – the 98 has begun receiving more of the credit it deserved, as its multi-leveled upper never really caught on with its first go-around on shelves. Garnering a strong wave of momentum, the 98s is set to roll right on into next year, with a new aesthetic that was designed to pay homage to its birth year – 1998. No noticeable changes have been made on the lateral side of this design, but the medial section of both the right and left sneaker boast colorfully-embroidered “98” graphics that help spice up an otherwise simply-designed colorway. With an official set of Nike brand images available below, interested consumers can expect these honorary 98s to drop on Nike.com and at other Swoosh stockists very soon.
