Nike’s beloved Air Max 97 is no stranger to shimmering colors. After all, the two most iconic colorways of the 97 are the “Silver Bullet” and the “Metallic Gold,” so the two practically go hand-in-hand. Now, the Christian Tresser-designed classic has surfaced in a new kids-only makeup that offers a bold new embellishment: iridescent uppers. The shoe’s overlays feature an oil slick-style combination of purples, greens, and silvers that shift depending on the viewing angle, while a retro turquoise nylon serves as a base color. The top two stripes offer a reflective material, a purple tongue provides further colorful contrast, and the look is then tied off with a simple white midsole, purple Air Max unit, and white outsole. These striking new grade school 97s are set to release later this year on Nike.com, so check out a full set of official images below while you wait.
