Since its debut in the 2015, the adidas Ultra Boost has gained notoriety as one of the most comfortable sneakers on the planet, approved by both the running enthusiast and style-conscious demographics. Despite its unparalleled ride, the biggest knock against the Ultra Boost – if there was one – was that the shoe didn’t change much in nearly four years. While some modifications were made to the Primeknit one-piece upper, the lack of variation among the four models dubbed the 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 played a factor in the silhouette cooling off a bit.
However, things are changing for 2019, because adidas is ready to unleash a true sequel to its most significant shoe of the 21st Century. The adidas Ultra Boost 2019 (which some are calling the Ultra Boost 5.0) features a newly designed “cage” on the upper by way of a translucent TPU panel as well as an exterior piece towards the rear that acts as a heel cup for stability. The Primeknit upper has been retooled as well as it features a more distinct two-toned color-blocking capability as well as a dotted weave towards the fore-foot flex zone. Most importantly, the Boost cushioning has undergone a slight modification as well, although the heavenly ride will remain unchanged.
The adidas Ultra Boost 2019 is set to drop on 12/15 in limited quantity and again on 2/21 with an MSRP of $180.
