Ross Dwyer Nike’s mini-swooshed Air Max 1 is a perfect example of how to update a classic. All the details that originally made the AM1 iconic are left intact, but a small and delicate Swoosh adorns the mudguard for just enough extra branded flair to make the shoe stand out. After appearing on both a clean grey in-line pair early this July and on the highly desirable Parra collaborative edition later in the month, the mini swoosh is back again on two new Air Max 1s-a black/red and a baby blue/yellow.
Both colorways feature a mostly tonal upper with nubuck overlays, while contrasting colors appear on the midfoot swoosh, laces, and the tongue attachment. White Nike Air branding appears on the heel, and the aforementioned mini swoosh—red on the black pair, yellow on the blue pair—matches with the heel Air Max unit for a bright pop of color. Each shoe is then completed with a sail midsole and two-tone outsole. Both of these clean Air Max 1s have a scheduled release date of August 11th, but if you don’t want to wait both pairs are also available early on eBay for slightly under retail.
