Topps and adidas Are Releasing Baseball Footwear For Card Collectors

Topps and adidas Are Releasing Baseball Footwear For Card Collectors

Many have compared the rise of sneaker collecting to the popularity of amassing trading cards. Brands were wowing sports fanatics with limited edition inserts that continued to evolve the hobby, and Topps was certainly at the forefront of that movement with the introduction of their various expansions such as Topps Pro Debut, Topps Opening Day, Topps Sticker Collection, Topps Tribute and Topps Chrome. In collaboration with adidas, the legendary trading card brand is bridging these two relatable hobbies with a three-piece collection that hopes to invoke the same nostalgic shock factor of pulling a rare card from a sealed pack.

Included in this rarified Topps x adidas collection is the adizero Afterburner cleat, Icon cleat, and Icon Trainer equipped with  chromed-out detailing and the shimmering rainbow effect of a Refractor card, one of the most sought-after in the hobby.  Topps and adidas share branding responsibility on the shoe’s tongues, while popular baseballl statistics-typically found on the backs of baseball cards-are laid out on the cleat’s uppers. You won’t have to rely on luck on coping these, because all three pairs are available right now on adidas.com; prices range from $110-140 USD.
