How The DQM x Air Max 90 “Bacon” Was Made

Last week, we launched the first episode of Beyond The Box, a sneaker “unboxing” series with the artists, designers, and collaborators who worked directly on these epic projects. For Episode 2, we’ve hooked up with Dave Ortiz of DQM fame who, back in 2005, was tasked by Nike with a collaboration that best expressed himself and his shop’s identity. The result with the Air Max 90 “Bacon”, a sneaker that was inspired by the cured cuts of pork belly that has become a ubiquitous breakfast food, burger topping, and an overall boon to the culinary world. Dave discusses the start to Dave’s Quality Meats, the hilarious story behind the design, and much more, so enjoy episode 2 of Beyond The Box here.
