Nike’s next innovation in its signature running line is ready to make its global debut. In a running sneaker, runners ask for a shoe that offers more cushion from the impact of each stride, gives them the energy return needed to stay fresh late in a run, feels light underfoot and also is able to withstand wear and tear of impact and elements run after run. In response, the Swoosh’s innovative design team came together to deliver a solution to all of those needs in the form of the Nike React.
Equipped with a one-piece Flyknit bootie construction, its upper is kept lightweight and simple, allowing support, flexibility and breathability to take center stage. The magic truly happens underneath the upper where its new React foam comes in to play, boasting a significantly softer feel than EVA-based foams of past models. In fact, its midsole extends beyond the perimeter of its upper in order to avoid “bottoming-out” and provide its wearer with a more supportive base. Nike used computational design in order to develop the Nike React foam, avoiding the use of any cement or glue – allowing the midsole the ability to deliver cushioning and support in the specific spots needed during a run, while eliminating material wherever it’s not absolutely necessary in order to keep weight to a minimum.
The Nike Epic React Flyknit will make its world debut at Nike.com and select Sportswear retailers on February 22nd. For more on this newest design, you can check it out in Nike News.
