Off the heels of their epic re-issue of the New Balance 999 “Kennedy”, Boston-based sneaker boutique Concepts is connecting with the brand’s UK division to re-tell one of the quirkiest moments in the history of our nation’s relationship with our friends across the pond. The story behind this design is the London Bridge, which was famously purchased by American businessman Robert P. McCulloch and relocated to Lake Havasu City in Arizona. Using the New Balance 991.5 hybrid as the base, Concepts adds in a vibrant aqua/teal upper with reflective hits on the N logo and the tongue. The white midsole is paired with a light yellow heel and ENCAP cushion, while a gum sole completes the look. Perhaps the most telling feature is the granite-themed special edition shoe-box, which refers to the original materials used to build the structure. Look for these to drop exclusively at Concepts in-store and online on January 19th for $250.
