No more free Yeezys for Rick Pitino. adidas has announced that in light of the current NCAA Basketball recruitment scandal and FBI investigation that led to Pitino being fired by Louisville, they will also be dropping their partnership with the former coach. In a statment adidas said that they’ve terminated their “personal services agreement” with Pitino.
After recent reports were released that Pitino was paid 98% of the school’s deal with adidas to outfit the team, and the NCAA basketball investigation also included former adidas Basketball Director of Global Marketing Jim Gatto in the recruitment corruption charges, it seems like at least a few people at the brand probably knew what was going on the whole time.
