National Geographic And Nike To Air Documentary On BREAKING2

National Geographic And Nike To Air Documentary On BREAKING2

National Geographic Nike Breaking2

On May 6th, Nike and three runners, Eliud Kipchoge, Zersenay Tadese and Lelisa Desisa, raced around the Autodromo Nazionale Monza complex in an effort to break the two-hour marathon time barrier, a feat that had never been accomplished. Kipchoge came incredibly close with a 2:00:25 time, but this event was hardly viewed as a failure.

For this project, Nike unveiled the ZoomX cushioning system and the all-new ZoomX VaporFly Elite made exclusively for the participants. Nike also ran a giveaway of the shoes, with the only mode of entry requiring participation in a 5-k race. The shoes never released by conventional means to the public.

Nike invited National Geographic along the journey to document the entire project, and tomorrow at 8PM EST the National Geographic channel will air the BREAKING2 documentary without any commercial interruption. In case you miss tomorrow’s shoe, the film will be available across National Geographic digital platforms, including YouTube (in 31 languages), Facebook, NationalGeographic.com, EST, TVE and VOD, beginning September 21.
