Kyrie Irving Pays Respect to Kobe Bryant With Nike Kyrie 3 “Bruce Lee”

Updated on September 12th, 2017: The Nike Kyrie 3 “Mamba Mentality” is available now via Nike+ Early Access.

Kyrie Irving has flexed his Mamba Mentality by requesting a trade this off-season to accomplish one of his career goals of being ‘the man’ on an NBA franchise and to be recognized for his skillset out from under the long shadow cast by soon-to-be former teammate LeBron James. Now his signature Nike Kyrie 3 model will follow suit with an homage to Kobe Bryant and one of the Black Mamba’s most famous colorways, an homage to martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

The Nike Kyrie 3 “Mamba Mentality” will release via Nike SNKRS on September 15th featuring an overarching theme of wisdom and philosophical similarities that connect Kobe, Kyrie, and Bruce Lee. The pair references the time that Kyrie laced up the Kobe 5 Bruce Lee when he was 17 and playing in the Nike Extravaganza in California. Since then, Kobe has become a personal mentor for Irving and this is referenced through the sleek yellow and black Kyrie 3 colorway, red slash marks in homage to Bruce Lee, and a brand new ‘Kyrobe’ logo that combines both Kyrie and Kobe’s signature Nike logos on the tongue. Nike even brings back the pattern from the Kyrie 3 Samurai to reference Kyrie’s big game-winning shot over Klay Thompson from last year’s Christmas Day game.
