Lance Mountain, the skater turned artist behind on of the Air Jordan 1’s most unique collaborations, resurfaced in the world of sneakers earlier this week with a disco and rock infused take on the Nike SB Blazer Mid just for his friends and family. Lance first saw the Nike Blazer not in person, but in the pages of his favorite skate magazines growing up. This latest Lance Mountain Nike SB Blazer Mid is inspired by the legendary skater’s relationship with the shoe dating all the way back to 1978 to present day with inspirations from his love of pool skating and prism fades from his favorite rock posters.
“Pool skating is the street skating of vert. Instantly in the ‘70s, pools were mimicked in skate parks. And so the level of skateboarding grew from a backyard pool to a skate park pool, and then over the years they have refined and gotten bigger and bigger,” Mountain said in his piece with Nike News. “I skate pools. That’s where I skate. In the last 10 years, I’ve rarely skated other things.”
This premium Nike SB Zoom Blazer Mid “Lance Mountain” comes equipped with a rough black suede upper paired with oversized vintage Swoosh branding in a prism fade of light blue to yellow to violet. A disco ball inspired heel construction reads ’78 and ’17 just like the friends and family sample. You can grab your pair at select retailers and on Nike SNKRS and Nike.com beginning August 17th. Pricing info to come.
