At first looking like one of the weirdest sneaker colorways ever, this latest edition of the Reebok Shaq Attaq actually makes a lot of sense when you learn the story behind it. The odd combination of colors references Shaq’s snub from the original 1992 Dream Team, when Christian Laettner was chosen over him to play with the greatest basketball squad ever assembled for the 1992 summer Olympics. Most of the upper features a “USA” colorway in white, navy, red, and gold, but then gets a neoprene panel in royal and purple that references the Nike Air Flight Huarache that Laettner wore while playing with the Dream Team (perhaps making it the first shoe to ever reference another shoe from a different brand). As a final detail, each Shaq logo on the heel is x’d out with red to illustrate his cut from the Dream Team.

The Shaq Attaq “Dream Team Snub” is available now at select Reebok Classic retailers like Sneakersnstuff.
