It’s about time we got an Air Jordan 1 with the approval of Spike Lee stamped on it. Sure, the Mars Blackmon character didn’t help pitch Mike’s first signature silhouette, but there’s no doubt that Spike was an early driving force of the Air Jordan line’s popularity with his iconic black and white ads for the first couple of models and the ‘it’s gotta be the shoes’ catchphrase. Yesterday Spike sent out a preview image of the coming Friday quickstrike via his Instagram and now we have confirmation that the Spike Lee Air Jordan 1 will drop tomorrow, June 16th in limited numbers exclusively at 40 Acres – 75 South Elliott Place in Fort Greene, Brooklyn on a first come, first serve basis starting at 8AM. The pair expertly alternates between black and midnight navy while the only hints of white come in the form of Mars Blackmon’s surprised face on the heel and the midsole. What do you think of the pair? Stay tuned for more details in the near future and head over to our Jordan Release Dates for all of the latest coming retro options.
