New Balance is celebrating the start of the MLB’s Spring Training with exclusive launches of both the New Balance 998 and the New Balance 997 to match their latest in advanced performance baseball cleat technology, known as the “Coumarin Pack”. But what exactly does Coumarin mean? It’s that natural aroma that comes with freshly cut grass and the arrival of springtime, when the warm weather is perfect for dusting off your glove and playing a game of catch. Even if you’re not a baseball player, you can get behind this lifestyle vibe.
Half of the pack is inspired by Cactus Spring Baseball in Arizona where over half of the MLB warms up for the regular season. That’s represented through a modern take on the New Balance 998 with desert-esque accents that could almost match Arizona State’s uniforms. A light grey and white base features sunset themes of yellow, maroon, and red throughout. The remainder of the pack features colorways inspired by the Grapefruit Spring Baseball league in Florida, with a Miami Vice-esque combination of teal and orange landing on a grey suede-based New Balance 997.
Check out more details of the coming New Balance Spring Training themed “Coumarin Pack” and grab your favorite NB 998 on March 20th for $180 USD for the NB 998 and $210 USD for the NB 997.
