As you all know, the 2017 NBA All-Star Game was scheduled to take place in Charlotte. Last March, the state of North Carolina passed House Bill 2, a controversial bill that was deemed discriminatory to transgenders and the LBGT community as a whole. In response to the events, the National Basketball Association made the decision to relocate the mid-February festivities to New Orleans, citing in short that the values and principles of the NBA were not aligned with House Bill 2.
For the basketball fans of Charlotte, there was clearly a void. But Social Status, with one of its busiest locations in the heart of the city, is stepping in to shine brightly with a complete All-Star experience for the community and particularly the youth that had yet to experience the hoopla of All-Star Weekend. Beginning tomorrow, Social Status and Jordan will host daily events highlighting the All-Stars of the Charlotte community and the Jordan athletes in the NBA. In addition to the special events, a healthy assortment of footwear will be available for purchase, including the 2017 All-Star Collection and key restocks (Banned 1, Top-Three 1, Cool Grey 11, Space Jam 11 etc). For full details check out the Social Status blog.
