Tinker Hatfield’s 1987 classic Nike Air Max 1 will always be a profound sneaker simply because of the innovation that occurred when introducing visible air. Since then, the model has been updated and remixed countless times at the hands of Lunarlon, Vac-tech, Engineered Mesh, and much more to bring the retro runner up to speed with the modern times. Now Nike Sportswear is proud to present the Nike Air Max 1 CX, a pair that sports a color-changing upper thanks to a sun-sensitive design that transforms the off-white mudguard and Swoosh into the original “Varsity Blue” shade. The unique design creates a gradient until the sun has overtaken the entirety of the upper for a complex aesthetic fit for any occasion. This color-changing Air Max 1 will be available Friday, June 17th via Nike SNKRS for $140 USD. More photos below.
