When it comes to sneakers, the first brand you’re going to think of when you hear the word “checkerboard” is most certainly going to be Vans. Beginning with the classic checkered Slip-On, the motif has shown up on practically every Vans sneaker at some time or another since, and is without a doubt the brand’s most recognized and iconic pattern. Vans pays homage to the checkers this spring as part of their 50th anniversary celebration, presenting a collection of their classic sneakers covered in the ubiquitous checkerboard. The collection contains the Sk8-Hi, Slip-On, Old Skool, and women’s Dazie-Hi each in brand-new checkerboard color combinations inspired by the brand’s southern California roots. The Vans Checkerboard collection is available now at select Vans retailers and Vans.com.
