Ben Simmons isn’t partaking in any of the March Madness basketball, but that only means he has more time to make some personal business moves – like signing with Klutch Sports Agency. Founded by LeBron’s close friend and entourage member Rich Paul, Klutch Sports Agency features an impressive and growing roster of NBA athletes, but there’s no doubt that Simmons, projected to be the #1 pick this upcoming NBA Draft in June, will jump to the top of the list. Now that Simmons’ representation is set in stone, all that’s left to be determined is what NBA team gets the lucky #1 pick, and which footwear brand gains his allegiance. Nike is a frontrunner not only because of the Klutch connection, but because of the longstanding relationship he has with the brand (not to mention the selection of apparel in his official video announcement that went live earlier today).
That’s not saying adidas and Under Armour, Nike’s two biggest competitors, will sit by idly. Both brands have shown an eagerness to open up the wallets a bit, but Nike isn’t about to let a future star walk away. A lot was learned through the Curry fiasco, so don’t count on the Swoosh to let Simmons go without a fight, although it remains to be seen if the German and Baltimore brand will even make an attempt. What are your thoughts? Do you think Simmons will join Nike? Is a deal already in the works? Stay tuned for more updates on the Ben Simmons front and let us know your opinions in the comments below.
