Nike’s air pump technology was once one of their more forgotten gimmicky creations, made solely to compete with the likes of Reebok’s insanely popular Pump series in the early to mid-1990s. The Swoosh definitely surprised us when they decided to bring back the Nike Air Command Force last year, a harkening back to the days of towering sky-high sneakers that relied more on cushion and ankle support in a direct juxtaposition with today’s lightweight and flexible basketball trends. The lack of a functioning air pump module didn’t do the retro any favors, but Nike is making up for it with the return of the original air pump sneaker: the Nike Air Pressure. Slated for a release on January 14th, the retro comes with the signature plastic sling packaging and additional functioning air pump which might explain the $300 price tag. But does it completely justify the price? Older sneakerheads and fans of Nike’s oft-forgotten technology will be happy to see this silhouette return in remastered form while a newer generation probably won’t relate to the aesthetic or lofty price point. But what do you think? Check out more official photos below and look for this pair right now on eBay.
