The adidas Ultra Boost, arguably the best sneaker of 2015, has a bright future – as long as the brand plays its cards right. The sock-like fit provided by the Primeknit upper as well as the cloud-like comfort of Boost cushioning has made the sneaker one of the best performance and lifestyle sneakers of the last year – a feat that was last accomplished by the Nike Flyknit Trainer/Racer. Today, we’re getting a hint at the future of the Ultra Boost, and it’s rather clear that while the shoe has its merits in the world of running, the style/creativity side might have much larger potential. This “mid-top” Ultra Boost features a tight cuff above the ankle, but Primeknit at the overall chassis of the shoe features a lightweight material replacing the soft, woven upper. There’s no name for this Ultra Boost lifestyle model just yet and it could very well be Y-3’s take on the phenomenon. That said, stay tuned for updates as we near the rumored March release date.
