Damian Lillard gets his motivation through being overlooked. Underrecruited in High School, left off the USA Olympic basketball roster, snubbed from All-Star spots, Lillard wasn’t passed on by the three stripes and now that decision is paying dividends with the launch of the adidas D Lillard 2. Dame has been holding down the Trailblazers with the departure of LeMarcus Aldridge, which means that squad depends on his output even more on a night by night basis. Lillard shows no signs of letting up either, as his second silhouette with adidas features inspirations from the city that raised him with multiple Oakland references. The silhouette is engineered to fit his mentality to attack the basket thanks to a fresh TechFit booty, advanced webbing on the forefoot, and a heel counter to add stability to his slashing momentum while on the hardwood. “Signature details – I wanted it to have more hints of my background,” Damian explained in the official press release. “I still wanted it to be a stylish shoe, to be worn off the court again. Being in Portland makes it easy to get my ideas across, meet with designers and create something special for fans.”
The D Lillard 2 will debut in a limited release on December 26th in the upcoming “Rip City” rendition exclusively at Foot Locker, Eastbay, and adidas.com then will expand to a global release on January 22nd. The “Road” colorway will follow on February 5th. Retail price is $105.
