Bruce Kilgore’s classic 1982 basketball classic has had a profound impact on the sneaker scene in its 33 years of doing work. Nike has revamped the Nike Air Force 1 a number of times with new technology including the likes of Lunarlon footbeds and more mashups than we’d like to count, but none has had the new-aged aesthetic quite like the Nike Air Force 1 Flyknit. Nike completely ditches any traces of the gaudy leather panels and has instead transformed the upper thanks to a smart use of multi-color Flyknit woven material for a truly unique look that even in its jarring first look still manages to keep the AF1 identity intact. A traditional midsole and outsole unit is only interrupted by icy portions on the toe and heel while a leather Swoosh, ankle strap, and heel add support while paying respect to the legendary model’s past.
