Recently sitting down with USA Today Sports, Phil Knight covered a number of interesting topics in an interview discussing his plan to step down as Chairman of Nike. Knight who co-founded Nike and already gave up his position as CEO to Mark Parker will now be giving Parker full reign of the multi-billion dollar brand. Officially stepping down in April of 2016, Knight still plans to have a role with Nike stating, “I didn’t say I’m walking away. I said I was stepping down as chairman. I won’t walk away. I’ll be carried away.” Within the interview by USA Today, Knight spoke about his opinion of Sonny Vaccaro overstating his importance to the formation of Jordan Brand, admitted that Under Armour is closing the gap a bit on Nike’s lead in the footwear industry, and he even named his favorite Nike commercial of all time.
