Is It Time For Nike To Give Another Big Man A Signature Shoe?

Is It Time For Nike To Give Another Big Man A Signature Shoe?

This past NBA season saw more teams go with smaller lineups than arguably any time in the history of the sport. The Warriors won the championship where their tallest guy on the court for long spurs of time was 6 foot 8. That hasn’t stopped Nike Basketball from pushing big men to the forefront recently, as their hoops imprint is fresh off a DeMarcus Cousins trip to Asia. Now Anthony Davis is doing the same. In a league where centers and forwards have to be as versatile as ever, both Cousins and Davis are carving out unique niches. But does that mean either of them are signature shoe worthy?

Both taking trips at the hands of Nike Basketball is a nice signifier of where they stand with the brand. When we asked our readers about the New Generation of NBA Big Men and whether they can sell shoes or not, many were skeptical about Nike’s willingness to put a big man at the helm. For now, it looks like Nike is more than willing to have Boogie and The Brow hold down second-tier lines like the Hyperposite and Hyperdunk until they further prove they can garner more attention despite playing for two teams in smaller markets, each lacing a rich winning tradition. Would you rock an Anthony Davis signature though? Let us know in the comments and check out more photos his trip to Asia below.
